Short version
Springfold Paper has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no contact form. You can read every entry without telling us who you are. The only information collected is ordinary server logging and whatever advertising cookies your browser accepts, and both are described below.
Server logs
The web server records the usual request data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page if there is one, and the browser's user-agent string. This is used to keep the site up, to spot a broken link, and to count how many people read an entry. Log files are rotated and deleted after 30 days.
The site sets no cookies of its own. There is no login state to remember and no preference to store, so nothing needs one.
Advertising and Google AdSense
This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website. The cookie that carries this, historically called the DoubleClick DART cookie, is set by Google and its partners rather than by us.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to be told what personal data is processed and why (this page), to access it, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without it affecting what happened before.
The legal bases we rely on are legitimate interests for server logging and security, and consent for advertising and analytics cookies. We do not build profiles of readers ourselves, we do not sell personal data, and we do not transfer it to anyone except the service providers named on this page. Requests can be sent to [email protected] and are answered within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Analytics, where it is enabled, is aggregate: pages viewed, country, referring site, device type. IP addresses are truncated before storage and are never joined to any other record.
Your rights under the CCPA / CPRA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected and for what purpose, to request deletion of that information, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. This site does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except through the advertising cookies described above — which you can refuse or switch off.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from consumers under 16. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights: refusing advertising cookies does not reduce what you can read here. Requests go to [email protected].
We honour Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends one, and we do not attempt to work around a browser's tracking protection.
Children
The site is written for adults and for young makers working with an adult, and it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and it will be deleted.
Outside links
Entries link to suppliers' and manufacturers' pages so a reader can find a named tool. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and once you follow a link this policy no longer applies to what happens there.
Changes to this policy
When the policy changes, the date at the foot of the page changes with it, and a change that affects what is collected is noted here for one month. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the version then in force.
